The Green Corridor maintains the following objectives and direction in the ongoing activities of the class and project:
Work with area individuals and organizations to initiate public projects that build community around the issues of environment and quality of life in the Huron Church Road Area.
Positively change the perception, and experience, of the corridor, thereby enhancing tourism, and improving the appearance of the university campus and nearby properties.
Create opportunities to educate community and students with each project, by demonstrating technologies, displaying information and creating sites for scientific and environmental research.
Expose and harness the creative capacity of multidisciplinary collaboration in defining, focusing and implementing initiatives of environmental merit, positively impacting Windsor’s environment.
Follow sustainable environmental practices, including:
-Appropriate materials selection
-Full-cost accounting
-Use and implementation of renewable energy wherever possible
Partner with residential, university, and commercial interests.
Form multidisciplinary research teams to re-examine the identity of the Ambassador Bridge and its surrounds as a regenerative “green zone”, and corridor of international significance.
Integrate the downtown Windsor and University communities, transforming the gateway to the city and university, and producing significant positive impact upon international interests.
