The Green Movement

On Tuesday, The DH Club went to a garden centre and bought flowers for our guerrilla garden. We decided to make our guerrilla garden mobile so that more people could enjoy it. We filled a wheelbarrow with soil and plants and pushed it around downtown. People looked curiously at us as we walked in a line, one behind the other, with the person pushing the moveable garden in front. An owner of a downtown business stepped out of his shop and asked us what we were doing. We told him it was a ‘green movement’, to which he applauded our efforts! We looked around other areas of Windsor to plant our flowers and decided to make our garden ‘temporary’.
We went to an abandoned warehouse on McDougall Street and placed the flowers in places to brighten the area, albeit temporarily. Many people drove by and wondered what we were doing; unfortunately, no one stopped to ask. After an evening of being planted, pushed, replanted, and a little squished, we gave the flowers and new home in a garden where we know they will be cared for – it’s the least we could do after what we put them through.
