Cranes, Turbines, Containers, Oh my!
November 22nd, 2010, 7:36 pm
It is officially 3 days before the Poetry Blox Opening and we have tons of work to do! Between drywalling and installing floors, we have a lot on our plates. However, we have formed a group of eager students and helpers who are willing to put in the time and effort to get this project completed by Thursday!
In other news, the shipping container is finally here!
On Friday, November 19th, the shipping container arrived, filling the void beside the turbine.
The crane provided by the Moir Crane Service Itd. came and lifted the shipping container from the Lebel parking lot to the front lawn.

Up, up and away!

Ray from Lorenzen Engineering came by to watch the crate’s arrival.

The Lebel building front lawn was filled with curious and excited eyes from pedestrians who were walking by. Some even stopped by to ask Ray and students about what was happening.

The interior of the shipping container came from Toronto filled with the insulation that has been provided by Roxul Insulation. We are excited to start installing it as soon as tomorrow if all electrical aspects go according to plan.
Things are unfolding fast here with the Production Team! We hope to have everything up and running by Thursday night! See you all at the Poetry Blox Opening!
Poetry Blox on the move!

Today we talked to Ron Allan from Metro Skylite (an eco friendly company) on the telephone. He’s very enthusiastic about the project: he’s on board with us, currently trying to get us a better alternative to a Velux VSE S06, from Poland for the price of FREE. He’s getting back to us tuesday! feel the excitement!

We are also calling Roxul Insulation, and waiting on a call back from ABC Fire Doors today.
Last night in class Hiba made calenders for every group to plug in their dates for events in our semester!
We should all colour code the groups and make a legend so everyone knows what everyone else is doing. no confusion!

Noel and Lorenzen Engineering are talking to the University: soon enough the cement foundations are going in, which will take 7 days to cure, and then we will be receiving the crate! expect this to finally begin within the next two weeks me thinks!!!!
COMITH THE CRATE!!!!
September 30th, 2010, 10:02 pm

The crate being used for the PoetryBlox project is on its way! It will be arriving either next Thursday or Friday and we are excited!!
This crate will be landing right outside the sculpture room, on the back side of Lebel; this will make for easy access for all the alteration that will be taking place.

This side of the crate will be the future door, and it has created a problem because of that fact that it’s not insulated. The flooring has been removed and has left us with the issue of finding a proper alternative for a wall.

Meanwhile, the LED sign provided by Lorenzen Engineering has been filling our classroom with a warm, joyous, red glow!
GO INNOVATION…..in all seriousness we need to find a metal, sturdy, war proof door. Just a good one with a vent (not a window!). We are on the prowl.
