This is a picture of a phone acting as a Claude Mirror, using the reflection, an alternative Claude mirror.
Over the past week and a half, our group has been introduced to a popular contemporary artist Alex McKay, and his project the Claude Mirror. He has been exploring the possibilities that this magnificent 18th century device can do over the past 10 years, and now it is our chance to experience with them.
Our group has taken on the responsibilities of gathering images, content and responses to what we see through the mirrors as well as our experiences with not only the mirrors but with the city and space around us. We will each be forming our own identity through the use of the Green Corridor and surrounding areas, and attempt to bring the beauty back into the space, similar to that of a 17th-century Claude Lorrain, landscape painting. Although the mirrors were primarily linked to landscape painting, and transforming the land into something beautiful, we will also be exploring the alternative ways of viewing and using different reflection to form a link to contemporary concepts.
